This is a boomer story - made the reservation on my phone instead of desktop, and somehow chose the wrong week. Tried to simply change to the next week (when we WILL be in Malta) and hotel was booked so could not do it. Non-refundable reservation. Hotel is very near the ferry to go to Valletta. Listing for about 50% of what I paid - and 50% of what I had to pay to get a room the following week!
